You know how we used to come home after work/school and watch TV? We'd burn a good 2-3 hours a night on the thing. Eventually many of us would watch until the "vegetation" stage took over and the only remaining sign of life from us was the click of the remote control. So, nothing's changed. I've been aimlessly clicking away all night on this computer looking/searching for cool stuff. That's what I do with my free time now. After working on websites and music production (all done on the computer) I hit up the browser AGAIN to search for God knows what.Is it sad or marvelous? I can see anything (and I mean ANYTHING), learn anything (Wanna make a bomb? Grow some mushrooms?), be anything (I'm currently a Paladin with divine stealth [a la Warcraft]) without leaving my desk - or in many cases, my lap. Lying in bed or on the toilet is a favorite way to surf for many. I'm a renaissance man, and as such I love the internet and the world that I can create with my computer. I love the collective conciseness and connectivity that it brings. My 16-year-old brother started a facebook group a few weeks ago that swarmed to over 150,000 in a few days. As for me, I only have something like a modest 400 people on my fb profile as I like to keep the numbers down to only my "real" friends. I also like to watch them all squirm with wall posts when I change my status to "In a relationship". Oh, yeah...Stereoscopic images are cool. I stumbled upon them just now as I was writing this article, checking my email, and, er studying human anatomy (with a box of Kleenex). Click on the image above and a larger one will come up. Then go cross-eyed until you see three images. Focus in on the middle image and your mind will be blown! |
